Yokohama Fishing Show 2011

Live demos of new products on the main stage

**UPDATE**

The Yokohama Fishing Show has been canceled due to earthquakes. We will report back if there are new times or schedules.

It’s that time again when all the large manufactures get together to showcase their latest products. Things are a little different this year as it’ll be in late March compared to previous years when it was held in early February. I guess this is because generally products are not released until April so it makes more sense releasing products when the hype is high in peoples minds. These shows are generally a showcase of new prototypes and products that are due to be released. As with most of these trade shows products cannot be purchased so it’s more of a chance for you test the products out before they’re released. This year for example Shimano is releasing a new line of Stella’s, Twinpower’s and Biomaster’s.

As with trade shows you can experience a chance to meet your favorite anglers and watch live demonstrations. One of the best live shows is Jackall’s Lures tank full of live bass. You can experience their lures in action and sometimes the fish will even attack the lures. In the center of the show they have a main stage where the largest companies will demonstrate their latest product lineups. If you’re into the idols girls they have a large list of potential anglers who can be the next fishing idol for 2011.

This year there will be 170 manufacturers making this Japan’s largest fishing trade show. Other notable areas of interest will be the boat fishing corner, a pet adoption center, a camping car demo, Japan foods festival, young anglers fishing area, and a kids play park. What we like this year is how many of these events will now be held outdoors making it a great family event. Also it takes a lot of the stress out being 100% indoors because previously things were too crowded especially during the peak weekend times. Overall it should be a great event to experience all of Japan’s Fishing under one roof.

If you are are not from the Tokyo/Yokohama area we will provide a couple of PDF maps for your convenience. This first link is for all of Yokohama and will explain the local transit system so you can easily navigate to the venue. Our second link is for the city of Yokohama Tourist Information, here you’ll be able to find hotels and more information regarding the location.
