it seems the link of where the pictures were coming from has died :thumbsdown

That's kind of shitty because it was such a good sequence of pictures on how to do such a difficult knot. I've emailed the member and have asked him how we can get them back up again.

Thanks for posting Pramong.

Thanks a lot Fisherkingnigel

I like to see the good knot for GT . Mono(100 lbs.) to Pe braid line .
Do you have any comment about these? Thanks for your back answer.

Well just about every jig fishermen/big game fishermen uses this knot. I myself find this knot to be difficult on boats and really don't like tying it because it's so time consuming. I usually use this knot:
PE TO SHOCK KNOT LINK

I personally have seen this knot tied twice in front of me but still can't figure it out. I know it's really good though to have two "plastic/rubber" "tubes/rolls" to tighten the knot. What you do is wrap the PE line onto the roll and same with the leader line. So each line is wrapped with the tube and the line is tightened. Basically you pull the tubes/rolls setting the knot in tighter and tighter. There's no way you could use your hands because you would burn or cut your hands pulling the line. They sell those tubes at most of the big game lure stores here in Japan.

Oh yah I know a GT angler who doesn't use leader line like Varivas, instead he uses commerical trolling line and swears they're much stronger than the commercially made types like varivas. You can find those lines here at fishing stores but they can be tricky to find. They are usually in a big just rolled up, nothing pretty but it's supposed to be very good for big game GT fishing. Hope that helps a bit.......... I want to get into GT fishing but the wallet is just not thick enough to afford that game.

I used the mid-knot for my lure casting and bottom fishing and the knot ahs held up well.I just got my Varivas Shock Leader and will try it out on the weekend off.It is a hard knot to tie because you need to really pull the lines tight and the braided line needs to bite into the 100+mono line.

Yeah it really helps to have some rubber or plastic tubes that covers your hands so you can pull the lines tight without cutting the skin. In Japan you can find them for about 1,000 yen at most big game stores.
