We are your English Forum for tips about lure fishing, topwater big game casting, vertical jigging and other types of Japanese fishing methods. Most members are foreign anglers who live and work in Japan and we all speak one common language Fishing!
Do you know which city you will be staying in? Most rivers in Japan has bass and carp . Saitama is no different. Since Saitama has no shore line (I thnk?) rivers are your best bet. Maybe someone from Saitama can help?
Checked out your website. Are you Ed Sensei, the Karate 6th Dan Master in one of the pictures? Will you be in Saitama to teach karate?

Cool I think we have a KARATE dude here now! Sensei glad to see you on board and I hope we can help you in your quest to fish in Japan. Unforutuatley I don't really know Saitama very well but if you have any gear or set up questions I can certainly help.
Thanks for the warm welcome. Yeh, that is me on the web page. I don't think I will be teaching in Saitama because I will only be there for a month or so. I will be teaching some in Okinawa. We travel to Japan once or twice a year doing Church work. Soon I hope to be able to stay.
I think the city we will be staying in is actually Saitama City. I cant wait to hear more about fishing in Japan. Thanks a bunch!
Does Saitama have any beaches? If so I'd recomend doing some kissu fishing. It's great for kids and they can enjoy catching lots of fish. Here's a fishing workshop I did with some kids this year.

If you have any questions I can help with the general set ups and how to fish for them.
Saitama is landlocked, so no kisu fishing unfortunately Nigel. The fishing Saitama is most famous for is stocked pond herabuna. Most towns have at least one, some places like Hanyu have four or five! The herabuna.cc website advertises 33 different places in the prefecture. Like Chucky says it is almost certain you will find bass and carp out there. A good place to start may be the Arakawa River. The offshore anglers I know - I work in Saitama - usually make the drive east to Hitachi. adamg
