Who is going fishing this weekend (May 29/30th)

Postby commandante » Thu May 27, 2010 2:06 pm

Hi Fellow Anglers,

I just arrived in Tokyo last week and would like to go fishing in the bay this weekend! Unfortunately, as a gaijin with extremely limited japanese language skills this is not so easy. Anyone going out and/or can provide me with some assistance? I'll be in Tokyo for a while, at least a few months, and want to do as much fishing as possible. At home in San Francisco I usually fish every week so I will be going into major withdrawal if I don't get out on the water soon.

Hopefully my fishing adventures here won't be limited to the Tokyo area. Ideally I'd like to fish all over the japanese islands, and other prime locations in south east Asia like Vietnam, Thailand, etc. Any advice is appreciated!

I'll keep you in mind when we are getting something put together. In the mean time you might want to hook-up with Aki. He runs a skiff charter out of Yokohama for sea bass and other stuff. A good guy and he speaks english. See this post viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2417&start=0 , his link is in there. If you set something up with him let me know and maybe I can join in.

Go with a charter for sure. You will get into tons of fish, learn the basics about Japanese seabass and have a kick ass time!!! The waters around Tokyo are chalk full of 60-90 seabass and they put up a mean fight when you're using light 6ft rods with 2k-3k reels. Then from what you learn take that knowledge and hit the shores but you'll need some tackle of course. In Japan there are so many styles to do and choose from so try the charter before getting all the gear...

Good luck,
